The Computer Lady History

  • Whilst being The Computer Lady is a full time job, concurrently Sophie runs an online store ‘Balaboosta’, that sells stunningly handmade homewares designed by unique artists and makers, locally and internationally sourced. Balaboosta is ethically and environmentally focused, and aims to particularly stock artists who identify as gender diverse or femme.

  • TCL co-founded Didi and Dora (named after their ‘Bubbes’ - a yiddish for grandmother) a vintage furniture business with her longtime friend, Cara Slade. In just one-year, they accrued over 10k followers and opened up their very own store in Hawthorn, VIC. TCL managed the brand’s online digital presence and aesthetic which included their website and social media platforms, while styling, photographing and editing all of the content. After a successful two years of growing D&D from the ground up, TCL's creative itch led her to pursue further opportunities in the design sector.

  • Snowf’s Pompoms was an online shop that sold exclusively pompom accessories made out of recycled wool. Marketed and sold entirely through Instagram, TCL made her mark as a creative entrepreneur with a solid online presence. This endeavour led to expansion opportunities, wherein TCL was able to run workshops for various organisations and stock her products in stores around Melbourne. In the wake of COVID-19, TCL bought herself a sewing machine (and youtubed how to use it), leveraged her online Snowf’s following and began selling hundred’s of masks.
